About Me

Hello world! This is my original ABOUT ME from a blog started over a year ago on September 6th, 2015. I wanted there to be a place where I could share my daily thoughts with others. Now that I’ve got the hang of things- the blog is being updated with a new look and a new DOT COM! My accomplishments and experiences have also grown tremendously since then, and I am now officially writing for the casting site CASTINGFRONTIER.COM/BLOG.

I am an actor. I live in this wonderful, inspiring, liberating and (at times) frustrating world that you may have heard of: it is called the film industry. This is a blog where I can share my perspective, experience & insight into this crazy world. Hopefully it will be helpful and interesting, whether you are at a place of humble beginnings, have a passing interest in acting or are a leader in the field and have already established your empire.

Let it first be known, that I will not make claims to be the best at anything. I will, however, let it be widely known that there have been many blunders and errors along the way. I’ve cried, fumed, felt hopeless, embarrassed, considered quitting-Yep, there has been some of all of that. Without which, I would not be who I am today.

Each day I wish to get better at my craft. Hopefully this blog can help me learn & grow while it helps others do the same. With any luck, I can save some of you from perhaps making a few of the mistakes I already made.

A Brief Back Story

I started my acting journey in high school, and before that I was actually pretty shy (the thought of performing anything in front of anyone would actually terrify me to the point of tears. So, actually, overcoming that in itself was a feat.). My first on camera job came in the form of a PhoneHog.com Internet video at age 16. I was hooked. I made a goal to graduate and move to Los Angeles, which I did. Sort of. At almost 19 years old, I began my journey. Grossly under-prepared, I hopped on a flight, surf board in tow. I had no idea what I was in for.

It was a meager 3 months before I made the call to my parents to ask them to fly me home. I was over whelmed, and lacked experience. I needed to grow in many ways before going back. But go back, I did!

Two and a half years and a new resume later, I found myself back in LA and flourishing! The most substantial growth of my life to date took place in that city. I discovered skills, strengths and weaknesses and also established a full time job to support myself (one that turned into a great career) that worked brilliantly in tandem with acting.

After close to five years in Los Angeles, I decided it was time to move home. I missed my family, and even after all that time, (though I had accomplished a lot) I was still far from where I wanted to be and I knew I could really hone my skills in a smaller film market.

Today I live in beautiful Portland, Oregon. I love the balance in my life between acting, career and family- and I’m jazzed about my future. There really is nothing as exciting as the possibilities within each day! And, I feel like I’m just getting started! If you read this, depending on where you are in your career, whether it is miles ahead of me or exactly where I am- this can be our joint journey. So, as I reflect on thoughts and memories of events and share them with all of you, I hope it resonates in some way and inspires you to keep going despite all the missteps you may experience along the way (trust me, it is worth it!). I hope you join me for all these adventures! Ask questions, provide feedback, give opinions. We’ll  figure it all out together!
